German Memento Mori Signet Ring
CIRCA 1600 A.D.
1 in. (22.40 grams, 27.88 mm overall, 21.55 mm internal diameter (approximate size British V, USA 10 1/2, Europe 23.77, Japan 22)).
Substantial gold hoop with ribbed shoulders and underside to the discoid bezel; incuse pelleted border enclosing a skull and single long bone above a bird's nest.
Provenance
Acquired in the 1980s.
Property of a London gentleman.

Accompanied by a copy of the British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) report no.SUSS-95B0C7. Reported as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 with reference no.2022T118, and subsequently disclaimed. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by search certificate no.11979-208180.
