Georgian Silver 'IN BUEN ESPOER' Clasped Hands Ring
CIRCA 18TH CENTURY A.D.
7/8 in. (8.14 grams, 22.84 mm overall, 17.35 mm internal diameter (approximate size British M 1/2, USA 6 1/4, Europe 13.09, Japan 12)).
Solid D-sectioned hoop with French inscription 'IN BUEN ESPOER' for 'IN GOOD HOPE', to the exterior with flowers to the shoulders and clasped hands on the raised bezel; with a stamped pellet cross and TC in crown maker's mark to the interior. [No Reserve]

These glazed stove or floor tiles are similar to the ones of the great hall and the Tudor kitchens at Hampton Court Palace, made of ceramic, with a glaze to make it hard-wearing and washable. Not just the furnishings, but the palaces themselves were multi-coloured, with brick walls painted red, and exposed timbers in yellow, red, green and white. -
