Georgian Cameo in a later Silver Pendant

18TH CENTURY A.D.

1 3/8 in. (6.47 grams, 34 mm).

Set in a silver frame with suspension loop, cameo with profile bust facing right, wearing a flower wreath, narrow band on the forehead, hair gathered in a loose chignon with a short curl falling on the side of the neck.

Provenance

Mr F.D. collection, acquired on the European art market, 1975 to present.

    The regiment was raised as the 1st (Victoria Rifle Club) Middlesex Rifle Volunteer Corps and became the 1st Middlesex Rifle Volunteer Corps on the formation of the Volunteer Force in 1860. By 1892 the 1st Middlesex and 6th (St George's) Rifle Volunteer Corps were joined together.
