INDIA, 20TH CENTURY A.D.

12 3/4 x 9 1/4 in. (528 grams, 32.5 x 23.5 cm).

Showing figures in an architectural setting, water and landscape beyond; possibly two female attendants, one holding a torch, the other keeping guard, assisting their mistress who has ventured out at dusk to meet her lover; set in a reveal within a glazed wooden frame.

Acquired on the UK art market, 1980s-1990s.
The Woodbridge collection of Indo-Persian art.
