English Stuart Coins - Charles I - Bristol - 1644 BR - Declaration Shilling Dated 1644 AD

Obv: profile bust with plumelet before and XII behind and CAROLVS D G MAG BR FR ET H REX legend with four small pellets around larger central pellet at start of legend. Rev: declaration RELIG PRO / LEG ANG / LIB PAR in three lines with three plumes above and date below with EXVRGAT DEVS DISSIPENTVR INIMICI legend with 'BR monogram' mintmark. 6.03 grams.

Superb extremely fine; almost as struck on a full flan with just a touch of double strike, fields almost lustrous. A magnificent coin; at least one of the best in existence.

Much finer example than any of the Bristol shillings published in SCBI 19 or Brooker and finer than any that have been traced coming to the market for many years.
