English Medieval Coins - Richard III - London - Boars Head AR Groat 1483-1485 A.D.
Type 2b. Obv: crowned facing bust within tressure of arches, legend around, RICARD’ · DI’ · GRA’ · REX AnGL’ · Z FRAnC (Richard by the Grace of God King of England and France), with Boar's head mintmark. Rev: long cross fourchee, trefoils in quarters, two lines of legend around, POSVI DEVM‘· A DIVTOR E’· MEVM / CIVI TAS LON DON (I have made God my helper / City of London). Holed and used as a 'touch piece', split at 10 o'clock otherwise good fine. Extremely rare.(2.67 grams.).
