London mint. Henri, moneyer. Long Cross type, class 3bc; struck 1248‑50. (Six-pointed star) ҺЄNRICVS (ЄNR ligate) RЄX III, facing crowned head / ҺЄN-RI (ЄN ligate) O-N LV-NDЄ (ND ligate), long voided cross with pellet centre, three pellets in each angle. North 987/1; SCBC 1363a. Very Fine. Well-struck on a broad flan.(1.33gr, 20mm, 6h.).

    Found Skirpenbeck, Yorkshire, UK. From a private Barnsley, UK, family collection. Accompanied by copy of the British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) with reference no. PAS YORYM-950E8A.

    During this turbulent period in English history many irregular coins were struck and coins were also issued from dies that had been deliberately defaced, possibly as a rejection of Stephen's authority (note from PAS).
