LATE PERIOD, 664-332 B.C.

5/8 in. (1.72 grams, 15 mm).

Naturalistic detailing to the blue stained body and legs with section of openwork between the front and back legs; hieroglyphs on base; pierced for suspension.

    Acquired in Europe before 1992.

    In ancient Egyptian belief, the image of Isis suckling her son Horus was a potent symbol of rebirth. The goddess sits on the throne (which was the hieroglyphic form of her name).
