Greek Black-Glazed Guttos with Horseman Spearing an Amazon

High-angled spout and loop handle to the shoulder, the body decorated with vertical ribs around the perimeter, central image of a helmetted warrior on horseback, cloak billowing in the wind and his right arm raised in the act of spearing the fallen foe beneath the horse, the horse standing on its back legs and trampling the amazon with its front hooves. 168 grams, 11.7 cm

Broad conical vessel on a small flat base with interior and exterior glazed black; the inner face decorated with incised, reserved concentric circles and a partially-preserved rosette with a dotted frieze in added white; vertical fissure in the wall, two small fragments reattached to the rim; partially misfired, due to the way the vessels were stacked in the oven; supplied with a display stand. 335 grams, 21.5 cm wide
