19 in. (4.7 kg, 48 cm).

Wearing an ankle-length robe and pillar-box cap, right arm raised, with separately modelled hand and head; left arm within a copious sleeve. [No Reserve]

Property of a North London gentleman; formerly in the Cheuk family collection, Hong Kong, 1990s.
From the private collection of John Meredith, acquired since the 1990s; thence by descent.

    In the mid 15th century a freighting junk loaded with fine Vietnamese pottery sank in an area of the South China Sea called the 'Dragon’s Embrace.' This vessel is part of the shipwreck cargo recovered off the coast of Vietnam at Hoi An. The ceramics themselves were probably made in the area of Chu Dau.
