Chinese Northern Wei Brick with Painted Buddha Seated
NORTHERN WEI DYNASTY, 386-534 A.D.
13 x 6 1/2 in. (3.83 kg, 33 x 16.5 cm).
Rectangular with ogee recess; Buddha in high relief seated on a dais, right hand held in Abhaya mudra; nimbus behind the head; various pigments survive.
