Chinese Large Tang Terracotta Courtly Lady
TANG DYNASTY, 618-907 A.D.
19 7/8 in. (3.85 kg, 50.5 cm).
Standing erect on a polygonal base, with elaborately dressed hair and blusher on her cheeks, dressed in a draped long pale green robe with red and ochre detailing, cloud slippers emerging from beneath the hem; arms raised within the sleeves exposing her delicate hands.

From a West Country, UK, collection, 1990s.
Accompanied by thermoluminescence analysis report no.47CM180321 from Laboratory Kotalla.
This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by a search certificate number no.12457-226137.

In the mid 15th century a freighting junk loaded with fine Vietnamese pottery sank in an area of the South China Sea called the 'Dragon’s Embrace.' This vessel is part of the shipwreck cargo recovered off the coast of Vietnam at Hoi An. The ceramics themselves were probably made in the area of Chu Dau. -
