Chinese Green-Glazed Waterdroppers
YUE KILNS, PROBABLY WESTERN JIN DYNASTY, 265-317 A.D.
4 - 5 1/2 in. (742 grams total, 10-14 cm).
Comprising: a stoneware water dropper in the form of a toad, legs with incised decoration applied to the globular body, the opening flanked by two loop handles, the bottom unglazed; the second one in the exceptional and rare form of a monkey, aperture for filling on the top and nicely crackled green glaze, unglazed bottom. From the private collection of a Canadian gentleman living in Essex, UK, formed since the 1920s-circa 1990.
