Chinese Blue and White Painted Lidded Trinket Box with Internal Text
19TH CENTURY A.D.
3 3/4 x 3 3/4 in. (332 grams, 95 x 95 mm).
Square in plan with low L-shaped feet, domed lid; hatched fields with reserved vegetation motifs; inner face and lid with neat columns of pointillé text; the lid reading is a dedication to Mr Wong by his son and grandchildren; the base reading: 'Born 22nd January 1723, approximately 11pm (Lunar = Renyin Year of the Kangxi reign.) - Passed away 7th January 1808, approximately 3-5pm. (Lunar = Wuchen year of the Jiaqing reign.) - Laid to rest in Meizhok County - Burial direction: Southeast (Xun direction) aligned slightly eastwards. East (Mao direction) by three degrees. [No Reserve]
