IRON AGE CELTIC LA TENE II SWORD
CIRCA 2ND CENTURY BC
30 1/2" (Iron, 515 grams, 78 cm).

A hand-forged iron sword in its scabbard; the blade broad and parallel-sided with rounded point and central strengthening rib; the tang rectangular-section; the scabbard fragmentary, with scrolled upper edge, decorated with lightly incised design of circles with opposed birds above, roundels and geometric designs.

From an important West Country collection.
