Celtic Britannia. Tasciovanos AE Unit. Circa 25 BC- AD 10. 'Star' type.
Geometric pattern forming eight-pointed star, ringed pellet in centre; all within wreath border / Bull to right, with tail raised, head facing, crescent above. ABC 2685; Van Arsdell 1810; BMC 1752-55; SCBC 248. Very Fine to Good Very Fine. Bold bull, clear cresent, olive patina. Rare.(2.37gr, 15mm, 12h.).

Chris Rudd's footnote: 'Our so-called 'stickman' is of course a five-pointed star. This is a really sharp example and extraordinarily light in weight. Indeed it is only a quarter of the weight of a full silver unit. Maybe we should call it a 'minim' rather than a half unit?'
