Celtic Britannia. Corieltauvi AR Unit. Circa 55-45 BC. East Midlands. Unscribed. Rich Type 1a.
Boar to right, 'spear' in shoulder, pelletal sun above, 'swastika' ornament above head / Horse to left, beaded ring above, annulet below and two annulets before. Cf. ABC 1779; cf. Van Arsdell 855-3. Good Very Fine. Edge chipped. Large flan, well ornamented.(1.35gr, 15mm, 1h.).

Chris Rudd writes: 'This is an important coin because it seems to be the direct prototype for the Cantian Thurrock cast bronzes, the first coins made in Britain.' -
