Ancient Roman Imperial Coins - Carausius - Virtus Radiate Lion Denarius 287-293 AD

London mint. Obv: IMP CARAVSIVS PF AVG legend with laureate, draped, cuirassed bust right. Rev: VIRTVS SAEC C legend with radiate lion walking left, holding thunderbolt in its jaws; mintmark RSR in exergue. 3.95 grams.

Extremely fine; thin striking split to flan; few minor scuffs. Extremely rare, possibly unpublished, important.

Found near Andover, Hampshire, UK, 2015; recorded PAS (reference BM-B49CF4).
