Byzantine Gold Earrings with Sapphires
10TH-12TH CENTURY AD
3 3/4" (19 grams total, 92-93mm).
A matched pair of gold earrings, each a hoop with openwork transverse bar, two dangles with turquoise, pearl and amethyst beads extending to an openwork scrolled filigree plaque and five dangles with sapphire, pearl, amethyst and gold sphere beads. [2]
