1 in. (9.78 grams, 24.92 mm overall, 18.51 mm internal diameter (approximate size British P 1/2, USA 7 3/4, Europe 16.86, Japan 16)).

With ellipsoid bezel, tinned upper face with reserved scallops to the rim and four starburst motifs. [No Reserve]

Acquired on the London art market in the late 1980s-1990s.

    The complex letter monograms seen on these rings are sometimes referred to as 'merchant's marks' and would normally be a personal mark giving a name or phrase of significance to the owner. In this case it seems belonging to a Magistrate with consular rank, the Hypatos.
