Dark Age Brooch Collection

7th century AD

A mixed group of brooches comprising: a bronze Visigothic anthropo-zoomorphic plate brooch formed as a human head with a D-shaped torso, arms extending to lateral stems, lozengiform torso and second inverted head; a bronze Gothic zoomorphic brooch with D-shaped head with addorsed birds and lozengiform footplate with beast head finial; each with remains of pinlugs and catchplate to reverse. 21.8 grams total, 53-66mm (2 - 2 1/2"). Fine condition. [2, No Reserve]

Property of an Austrian private collector since the 1970s.
