Bronze Age Clay Metalworking Crucible
CIRCA 10TH CENTURY B.C.
3 3/8 in. (113 grams, 85 mm).
With flat base and thick sidewall tapering to the rim, C-shaped pouring lip; inked legends to underside 'BA13'. 'BA2-13', '60', 'OL14'; with traces of bronze remaining inside adhering to the floor. [No Reserve]
Provenance
From the private collection of Kenneth Machin (1936-2020), Buckinghamshire, UK; with collection no.BA13; his collection of antiquities and natural history was formed since 1948; thence by descent.
