Steel case with sweep hand to display seconds; glass cover; inset dial from 0 to 30 in increments of 3; stamped to the reverse with War Department arrow and '36013'. [No Reserve]

A collection of battlefield artefacts, including a Victorian British cap badge, a copper belt-buckle plate featuring a game of cricket (it is recorded that British troops played cricket whilst in camp), a rare Natal Carbineers button (and a later example), Boxer .450 brass cartridge bullet cases, and other items. 80 grams total, 18-55 mm
Found by local Zulu people living at Khambula, South Africa, 1990s-early 2000s. Ian Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, UK, formed since 1985.
The battle resulted in a heavy defeat for the Zulus, who had been full of confidence from their earlier victories against the British at Isandlwana and Hlobane. -
