Bactrian Lapis Lazuli Recumbent Bull with Inlaid Eyes
3RD MILLENNIUM B.C.
1 3/4 in. (31.7 grams, 46 mm).
Modelled in the round with the legs folded beneath the body, pierced at the rump; sockets at the eyes, one with inlay; bronze mounting rod set into the lower body.

with Gallery Rosen Ancient Art, Tel Aviv, 1968.
with a London, UK gallery, 1971-early 2000s.
Accompanied by a copy of the original 1968 invoice.

Ex Abelita family collection, 1980s-2000s.
The spearhead belongs to the type VI spearhead of the Khorasani classification. It is characterised by a long blade and short tang, slightly rounded shoulders and pronounced midrib. Similar weapons were excavated by Prof. Negahban in the royal cemetery of Marlik.
