Anglo-Saxon Coins - Archbishops of Canterbury - Ceolnoth / Hebeca - Inscribed Open Cross AR Penny 854-864 A.D.

BMC type 30. Obv: facing tonsured bust extending to edge of flan with +CEOLNOÐ ARCHIEP legend. Rev: open long cross with +HEBE / CA MO across and upwards and N E T A in angles (thus reading HEBECA MONETA) for the moneyer Hebeca at Canterbury mint. Near as struck; split to flan. Rare.(1.08 grams.).
