Anglo-Zulu War Glass Bottle Collection
KHAMBULA, 29TH MARCH 1879 A.D.
2 1/4 - 11 3/4 in. (945 grams total, 5.7-29.9 cm).
Recovered from a British dump, comprising a rare complete green glass wine bottle, a blue poison bottle, and a smaller clear-glass ink bottle. [3, No Reserve]
Provenance
Found by local Zulu people living at Khambula, South Africa, 1990s-early 2000s.
Ian Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, UK, formed since 1985.
Footnotes
The battle resulted in a heavy defeat for the Zulus, who had been full of confidence from their earlier victories against the British at Isandlwana and Hlobane.
