Anglo-Zulu War Artefacts from the Battle of Khambula
CIRCA 29TH MARCH 1879 A.D.
1/2 - 2 7/8 in. (295 grams total, 14-73 mm).
A collection of battlefield artefacts, including gun parts from a destroyed Zulu musket rifle, a soldier's iron boot heel, and Boxer .450 brass cartridge bullet cases. [18, No Reserve]
Provenance
Found by local Zulu people living at Khambula, South Africa, 1990s-early 2000s.
Ian Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, UK, formed since 1985.
Footnotes
The battle resulted in a heavy defeat for the Zulus, who had been full of confidence from their earlier victories against the British at Isandlwana and Hlobane.
