Anglo-Saxon. Secondary Sceattas BI Sceat. Circa 730-750. Mint in East Anglia (South Suffolk). Wigraed. Series R10. Rigold Type R2.

Radiate crude bust to right; annulet flanking Λ behind; WIGRAED in Runic downward to right / 'Standard' with central annulet, chevrons and diagonal lines in corners; cross pommée on each side quartering central device, radiating line on each corner. SCBI 69 (Abramson), 687-688; North 165; SCBC 813A. Very Fine.(0.82gr, 13mm, 12h.).

From the private collection of John Meredith, acquired since the 1990s; thence by descent.
