Anglo-Saxon Hammered Coins - Eclectic Sceatta - LVNDONIA and Triquetras Type

710-760 AD, triquetras type, variety 5. Obv: profile bust right with LVNDONIA legend for London. Rev: interlaced cross with triquetra terminals and pellets. Good very fine, small striking crack at edge of flan. Rare.(0.89 grams.).

Footnotes

This sceatta combines the obverse type seen in series L, type 12 (S. 804) with the Triquetras reverse (S. 821); Abramson lists this as type 'Tri5'.
