Anglo-Saxon Coins - Offa - London / Ealdnoth - 'Lord Stewartby Collection' Portrait Penny 780-792 AD
Light coinage. Obv: profile diademed and draped bust left breaking the inner pellet circle with +OFFA+ +REX legend with inverted R. Rev: +EAL / dNOd legend in two lines with pellets in angles of initial cross and with fleur-ended beaded line with pellets in angles between for the moneyer Ealdnoth at London mint. Very fine. The only recorded example for these dies.(1.27 grams.).
