Ancient Greek Coins - Macedonia - Alexander III (the Great) - Countermarked Zeus AR Tetradrachm 197-196 B.C. or 187-186 B.C.
Aspendos, Pamphylia mint, posthumous issue, dated year 16 or 26. Obv: head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress; Seleukid anchor countermark on head. Rev: ALEXANDROY legend with Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and sceptre; AS over IC or AS over KC in left field. Very fine.(16.47 grams.).
