Ancient Greek Coins - Macedonia - Alexander III (the Great) - Countermarked AR Tetradrachm 190-189 B.C.
Aspendos, Pamphylia mint, posthumous issue, dated year 23. Obv: head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress; Seleukid anchor countermark on cheek. Rev: ALEXANDROY legend with Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and sceptre; AS over K Γ in left field. Near very fine.(16.22 grams.).
