Ancient Greek Coins - Macedonia - Alexander III (the Great) - Countermarked AR Tetradrachm 187-186 B.C.
Aspendos, Pamphylia mint, dated year 26. Obv: head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress, countermark of Seleukid anchor. Rev: ALEXANDROY legend with Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and sceptre; AS over KC in left field, spear-head left below. Near very fine.(16.02 grams.).
