Ancient Greek Coins - Countermarked Coin Ingot 2nd century B.C. or later
A silver coin ingot with sub-circular body. Obv: traces of head of Dionysos right. Rev: three counterstamps: a turtle, letter A above a bucranium, and IM as individual letters or PM (monogram). Marks very fine.(19.5 grams.).

German collection before 2000.
Collection of Mr D.H., formed in UK, from the EU art market.
Property of a Surrey gentleman.
Footnotes
For the countermarks, A over bucranium is known on a tetradrachm of Alexander III and the turtle is often seen on coins of Pontos, Pamphylia and Thessaly.
