CRETACEOUS PERIOD, CIRCA 140-120 MILLION YEARS B.P.
9 5/8 x 6 1/4 x 4 1/4, 14 in. (3.15 kg, 24.5 x 16 x 11 cm, 35.5 cm including stand).
Polished geode section with six rounded openings creating windows to the inside of the geode, the internal walls lined with vibrant purple amethyst crystals; mounted on a custom-made display stand.

Carcharodon megalodon is regarded as one of the largest and most powerful marine predators in vertebrate history and likely had a profound impact on the structuring of the marine communities. Fossil remains indicate that this giant shark reached a length of more than 16 metres (52 ft) and also affirm that it had a cosmopolitan distribution. Scientists suggest that in life, it looked like a stockier version of the great white shark, Carcharodon carcharias. -
