Possibly Carlisle or Cardiff mint. Uncertain moneyer. Struck circa 1136-1145. Cross moline ('Watford') type. Illegible inscription, crowned and diademed bust to right holding sceptre in right hand / ✠[...]CAR, cross moline with fleur in each angle. North 873; SCBC 1278. 0.63gr, 21mm, 9h.

Found Skirpenbeck, Yorkshire, UK. From a private Barnsley, UK, family collection. Accompanied by copy of the British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) with reference no. PAS YORYM-950E8A.
During this turbulent period in English history many irregular coins were struck and coins were also issued from dies that had been deliberately defaced, possibly as a rejection of Stephen's authority (note from PAS). -
