Phoenician Yellow Jasper Seal with Inscription

A carved yellow jasper stamp seal, scaraboid in form with intaglio design to the base of a standing lion-headed goddess with crown, ankh symbol to one shoulder and mace to the other, between two columns and two monkeys, ibex heads below, stars above; below, the Western Semitic text "property of '-s-h", above, winged solar disc and bird with extended wings; accompanied by a museum-quality impression, ceramic replica of the seal and custom-made display stand. -
Roman Monument to Senator Apellinarius and Kallisti

An imposing rectangular monument, commissioned by a noble woman named Kallisti (meaning ‘the most beautiful’) in honour of her late husband, a senator named Apellinarius, son of Apellinarius, the priest of Apollo; the carved surface divided into three panels, surmounted by a triangular pediment enclosing the head of a female with long, braided hair, possibly Persephone, Queen of Hades, executed in Eastern provincial style, with the facial features simply carved, including large, almond-shaped eyes and a small, smiling mouth. Upper Panel: within a rectangular frame inscribed top and bottom with Greek text, the facing portraits of Apellinarius and Kallisti depicted as equals, side-by-side, Apellinarius with wavy hair incised in stylised curls and a simple tunic with a wide, v-shaped collar and Kallisti shown as a commanding middle-aged matrona with the veil indicating married status falling from her voluminous hairstyle and draped around her shoulders; to the far left of the frame, a hand, carved in shallow relief within a square border. Central Panel: also enclosed within bands of text, a conventional, stylised funerary scene in shallow relief, Apellinarius reclining on a high bed, wearing a heavily-draped toga supporting himself with his left hand, and holding a laurel wreath aloft in his right, Kallisti behind him in a similar pose with veil; to the far left a young man holding a bird in his right hand (a symbol of youth, vigour and attractiveness), possibly the couple's son, mourning his father and preparing to take his place as the male head of household; beneath the bed a small, highly stylised female slave wearing a peplos, her unveiled hair pulled into a bun at the nape of her neck, carrying a cup to the offering table. Lower Panel: eight lines of Greek text, with a ninth incised on the frame below, reading 'And as ... we disagree ... Gods of the underworld upon the earth rooted ... Kallisti of Bithys constructed this monument to herself and the senator Apellinarius, son of Apellinarius the good/worthy senator and priest of the god Apollo who lived twenty years out of his own means and who everyone saw caused no public expense, and if anyone is caught doing something against these [people or things], may he be brought to justice and fined 5000 denarii for impiety, and payable to the Imperial Treasury.’; mounted on a custom-made stand. -

A Giallo Antico pink marble statue depicting the hero Hercules (Herakles) Bibax, draped in his lion skin, pulling it over his right shoulder and clutching the legs to his chest in his right hand; a bowl in the left hand, the lion skin slipped from his left shoulder and chest, its head hanging down from his left arm; the club supporting his relaxed left leg; the muscles in both legs well defined, his feet set on an integral rectangular base, the back with a rectangular recessed slot, continuing down to the heels, implying that the statue may have been an architectural attachment. -

A fine round-section trichinopoly band with loop and collar to each end, series of five graduated gold hinged discoid plaques each with an inset blue or red glass cabochon; from the lower edge of the central plaque, a hinged cruciform pendant of one discoid and three piriform garnet cabochons with granule below, two lateral securing chains. -
Byzantine Gold Patriarch's Ring with Carved Emerald

A massive ceremonial ring, the heavy D-section band with a series of three stylised acanthus leaves with separating bands in relief to each shoulder and side, the back of the band showing a large Maltese cross in relief with small Maltese cross and pellet at centre; the raised bezel cell, open at the back to the interior of the band, holding an oval cabochon emerald depicting a deeply carved Maltese cross with pellet centre. -

Viking 'The Great Beast' Weather Vane Finial

A gilt-bronze half of a Ringerike style "Great Beast" finial for a Viking longship's weathervane formed as a standing quadruped with scrolls to the hips and shoulders, slashes to the flanks, raised head with piriform eye and curled lappet to the upper lip; attachment holes to the lower legs and pierced rectangular panel to the top of the head to accept a separately-cast comb. -

A solid iconographic ring with ridged bezel of three panels depicting an angel to the right, God the Father holding the infant Christ in the centre and the Virgin Mary to the left, as viewed; the band tapering evenly in width from the shoulders to the narrowest point at the back and decorated all around with six diagonal lines of beading set on the line cusps; in the broad bands adjacent to the bezel, engraved pairs of foliage motifs of flowers on stems with star between; inscribed to the inside of the bezel, a form of 'I AM LOYAL' in black letter script. -
