Otacilia Severa, the wife of Emperor Philip I, was Roman empress from AD 244-249 and, like her husband, was from the city of Emesa (located in modern-day Homs, Syria). Known for her piety and dedication, Otacilia was actively involved in religious and civic life during Philip's reign. She was regularly depicted on coinage with symbols of fertility and virtue (as here, promoting Pudicitia), reflecting her influence and the idealised image of imperial womanhood. -
