These banded rings, made of bronze sheet with a flattened ellipsoidal bezel, could be decorated with geometric or animal ornaments executed by shallow carving. The animal repertoire was borrowed from the contemporary Romanesque art. -

In these rings, dated 12th-13th century A.D., the semicircular cross-section link on the front side transitions into an elongated and flattened, elliptical head. The carved decoration on the bezel is very rough, borrowing themes from the myth of the Thracian hero, still diffused in the medieval Balkans. -

Seal rings are the most usual types of all medieval base metal rings. Brass or bronze specimens are the most common. The merchants and tradesmen ordered various devices to be engraved on the bezels of their seal rings, and sometimes they gave the appearance of being heraldic blazons. -
