This extremely rare coin, displaying the full, long form of Victorinus' name, is from the very first issue of his coinage at Treveri, struck immediately upon his acclamation as Emperor after the death of Marius in AD 269. The paucity of extant examples of the type suggests that the issue was very brief, perhaps lasting only a month, after which point the obverse legend was abbreviated.
