    In the mid 15th century a freighting junk loaded with fine Vietnamese pottery sank in an area of the South China Sea called the 'Dragon’s Embrace.' This vessel is part of the shipwreck cargo recovered off the coast of Vietnam at Hoi An. The ceramics themselves were probably made in the area of Chu Dau.

    日本万古 Which translates to: “Japan Banko” This is a reference to Banko ware (Banko-yaki / 萬古焼), a type of traditional Japanese stoneware that originated in the 18th century in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture. It is especially known for its teapots, cooking vessels, and unglazed pottery. “日本” (Nihon) = Japan “万古” (Banko) = Banko ware, literally meaning “eternity” or “ten thousand ages”.
