'Punch Magazine' was a weekly magazine of humour and satire established in 1841. It was known for its illustrations, many of which were considered cartoons and used satire to comment on various aspects of British life, including social issues and politics. The magazine's influence was particularly strong in the 1840's and 1850's, helping to popularise the term 'cartoon' in its modern sense.
