Exhibited at the museum 'Museo de los Naufragios y Tesoros' in Punta del Este, Uruguay, from 2003-2004 and then in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay until 2005.

Comprising a low plate with gently sloping walls, painted scene of a traveller on water's edge, large tree behind and mountains on the horizon; the cup with floral decoration to the inside, with ferrous remains. 148 grams total, 66-100 mm

The Ca Mau shipwreck refers to a cargo of Chinese porcelain sunk between 1723 and 1735 off the coast of Vietnam. The wreck was discovered by Vietnamese fishermen in 1998. It is believed the wreck was a merchant’s junk on its way from Canton (Guangzhou) to Batavia when it caught fire and sank. The ship was carrying goods destined for Dutch traders who had limited access to China and its ports.

Both standing on a rectangular base in a wide stance, wearing conical hats, boots and black cross-over robes tied at the waist with a red belt; separately modelled heads with delicately rendered faces; both showing one raised arm (one with hand absent) and the other held at the side covered by the voluminous sleeve; repaired. 3 kg total, 33-34 cm

Comprising: six shallow plates with a painted scene of a two-storey house on a rocky landscape; six matching cups with similar scenery to the outer face. 652 grams total, 76 -117 mm

On Monday 3rd January 1752, the Dutch East India Company ship Geldermalsen, struck a reef on her return journey to the Netherlands and sank in the South China Sea. The cargo of Chinese porcelain was originally potted in Jingdezhen, Jiangzi province. The cargo was recovered by Captain Michael Hatcher and his team in 1985.
