With celadon glaze, nursing mother shown kneeling and naked with suckling child held to the left breast, the hair drawn back into a topknot, with lentoid eyes and applied facial detailing. 245 grams, 10.5 cm high

Each modelled in the round, standing with arms held within voluminous sleeves in front of the body, with semi-naturalistic facial features and dressed in floor-length courtly robes, one supporting a small dog and the other a broad dish; heads separately modelled; hollow-formed hexagonal-section green-glazed tiered bases. 14.5 kg total, 76-77.5 cm high

Octagonal in plan with high-relief eagle in flight holding lingzhi fungi in the beak; to the underside, the four-character seal of Emperor Taizong bearing his personal name 'Li Shimin'. 123 grams, 50 mm

Taizong was the second Emperor of the Tang Dynasty, ruling from 626 to 649 AD. His reign was characterised by reform and the adoption of logical rather than superstitious reasoning. Dr Bonewitz notes: 'The seal is partially encrusted with very hard caliche (or calcrete) which takes a long period to develop, possibly over many centuries.'
Each with dentilled rim, basal ring, central roundel with pot and flowers, surrounding panels with blossom and other motifs; bats and other motifs to the underside. 2.2 kg total, 30 cmFine condition.

Modelled on a rectangular base, the horse standing in harness and with a long saddlecloth; the rider modelled seated in the saddle, arms held before the body, holding cymbals. 1.18 kg, 26 cm high
