Steel obverse medal die (incuse and reversed). Obv: profile bust with ELIZABETH II legend and stars. 255 grams, medal 28mm diameter.

No commemorative medal from this die has been traced so there is no information as to the event being celebrated although the youthful portrait suggests that the 1953 coronation is perhaps likely; it may be a pattern type that was not issued.
Steel master hub and die pair for coronation medal obverse. Obv: proud and incuse three-quarter facing bust; the hub with incuse punched number S2 to base and the die with same number to side. 782 grams total, medal face 38 mm.

Extremely fine. Very rare.

This matching pair of steel master bust hub and incuse die (before the addition of a legend) would have been used for the making of medals to celebrate the coronation.

Rev: LONDON BRIDGE above view of bridge with OPENED BY / H M QUEEN ELIZABETH II / IN THE PRESENCE OF / THE Rt Hon THE LORD MAYOR / THE LORD MAIS / OBE ERD TD DSc C Eng / 16th MARCH 1973 in seven lines below. Edge: with incuse issue number 1148 and impressed Birmingham hallmark with 'x' date letter. and 'TK&S maker mark. Daily Telegraph Royal Academy of Arts silver Pompeii Exhibition medal. Obv: naked male figure advancing right holding club and bow, dog before with At the Royal Academy London 1976-1977 legend. Rev: standing figure of Pan playing pipes with sack hung on tree right and POMPEII AD 79 / Exhibition in two lines left. Edge: with incuse issue number 246 and impressed Birmingham hallmark with 'B' date letter and TK&S' maker mark; both in original case of issue with certificates. 273 grams total, 76 x 77 - 86 x 88 mm

About as struck, toned.
