Chinese Woven Silk Panel

19th-20th century AD

A rectangular woven silk panel with vertical columns of Chinese characters and a figure seated among lotus leaves on clouds, hands held in a mudra; floral motifs in the silk and some areas of colouration; mounted on canvas. 1.5 kg, 77.5 x 53cm (30 1/2 x 21"). Fine condition. [No Reserve]

Provenance
Acquired for the ‘Buckingham Collection’ by the late Nik Douglas (1944-2012), renowned author, curator and Asian art expert; the collection formed from the early 1960s to early 1970s.
