A large painted wood figure of a striding man wearing a short white kilt and with black painted hair; his arms to his sides and his clenched hands pierced; probably from a procession of offering bearers funerary model.
PROVENANCE:
From the collection of Dr Walter Hess, a German diplomat in the 1920s and 1930s with various posts in the Near East and Egypt. In 1952 he became Germany's first ambassador to Australia where he donated a number of antiquities from his collection to the Nicholson Museum, Sydney University where they are currently displayed.
