Egyptian Water Carrier Figure

Middle Kingdom, 2133-1797 BC

A carved wooden figurine of a porter or workman in advancing pose, carrying two drum-shaped baskets; pegs to the feet for insertion into the rectangular base; much original pigment. 759 grams total, 34cm with stand (13 1/2"). Fine condition. Rare.

Provenance
From the private collection of John Lawton collection, Surrey, UK; formerly in the Cmdr Peter Gray (Egyptologist) collection; accompanied by a copy of the collector's notes under reference number EG12.
