VATICAN - CLEMENS XIV - 1773 - SILVER MEDAL

1773 AD. Pope Clement XIV. By Filippo Cropanese. Obv: bust right, wearing Camauro, mozzetta and stole, A.V, signed CROPANESE F on truncation with CLEMENT XIV legend. Rev: the three Arts; Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture with ARTIBVS RESTITVTIS legend. 37.74 grams.

Condition
Extremely fine, with lustre and tone.

Footnotes
The annual medal for 1773 celebrates Clement's patronage of the arts at Rome. Bartolotti notes 424 medals in silver. Another example (GVF grade) was sold Christie's sale 786, 6/7th October 1999, lot 1206 (realised £242 plus premiums).
