World Tokens - USA - Washington 1795 - Double Struck Brockage Token Halfpenny

Dated 1795 AD

Usual die flaw to obverse. Obv: profile bust with large coat buttons and G WASHINGTON THE FIRM FRIEND TO PEACE & HUMANITY legend. Rev: fire grate or stove with LONDON and date below and PAYABLE BY CLARK & HARRIS 13 WORMWOOD ST BISHOPSGATE legend. Edge: with incuse PAYABLE AT LONDON LIVERPOOL OR BRISTOL inscription. 9.27 grams. Good extremely fine; double-struck with offset and reverse brockage.

Footnotes
The obverse shows an incuse and reversed partial impression of the fire grate reverse over the bust while the reverse shows a double-struck positive of the fire grate, with the two strikes offset; apparently seen by B Priscilla Langridge in 1967.
